Adventure Starts HereAbout Wildfern Ridge
A family-run ridge of forest, meadow and lakeshore — kept wild, kept spotless, and kept for campers who love the outdoors properly.
Three generations around one campfire
Wildfern Ridge began in 1987 with twelve meadow pitches, a hand-painted sign and our grandfather's stubborn belief that a campsite should feel like being lent a corner of somebody's farm. Thirty-eight seasons later the ridge holds four distinct grounds, forty-odd staff in high summer, and the same rule: leave every pitch better than you found it.
We still walk the grounds every evening at dusk — checking fires, lending mallets, pointing out owls. If you see a lantern coming down the track, that's us saying goodnight.
Mara Wildfern
Mara grew up staking guy-ropes on this meadow and now runs the ridge with her brother Tom. Her philosophy is printed on every staff badge: “Nobody remembers the Wi-Fi speed. Everybody remembers the stars.”
She leads the dawn lake swims, settles all dog-related diplomacy, and answers one camper letter by hand every Sunday.
