Camper Spotlights & StoriesBest Campsites for a Cosy Autumn Outdoors
· By Lena Marsh · 6 min read
There is a special hush over the ridge once the summer crowds head home and the leaves start to turn. Autumn is our crew's favourite season on the ridge: the crowds thin, the light turns to honey, and every campfire smells faintly of woodsmoke and apples.
1. Forest Edge for the colours
When the canopy turns, there is nowhere better than Campsite #4. The pitches sit under maples that go full bonfire-orange in October, and the forest loop trail becomes a tunnel of gold. Pack an extra blanket — the clear nights are made for stargazing.
2. Cabins for the cosy factor
If canvas in November sounds brave, the lakeshore cabins are the answer: wood stove laid ready, kettle on, deck chairs pointed at whatever weather the lake is performing. Bring a thick novel and zero plans.
3. The meadow for misty mornings
Campsite #2 in autumn is a study in atmosphere: fog pooling in the hollows, spiderwebs beaded with dew, and the sun burning through just in time for breakfast. It photographs like a dream and sleeps like one too.
Autumn packing notes
