Car camping keeps it simple: drive in, pop the boot and sleep under some of the darkest skies around. Our car sites sit close to trailheads and wash blocks, with fire pits, picnic tables and plenty of space for roof tents and awnings.
What to expect
Car plots are the closest to the action — a minute from the washhouse, two from the lake path. Each takes one car plus a tent or roof-tent setup, with a fire ring, picnic bench and a bear box for food storage. It's the easiest, cheapest way to do Wildfern, and regulars swear the dawn chorus is loudest here.
Crew tip: Roof tents fit all car plots — just keep awnings inside the marked bay.

How booking works
1. Pick your ground. Match your rig to a campsite on the Find a Campground page — each lists hookups, sizes and live rates.
2. Choose your dates. Reserve online in minutes with free cancellation up to 7 days before check-in.
3. Roll in from 2 pm. The gate crew will guide you on, lend you anything you forgot, and point you at the sunset.
